Admissions

Admissions to the Higher Secondary Course begins soon after declaration of Class X results by the Secondary Education Board of Assam.

  • The Medium of Instruction is English. 

Eligibility Criteria:

    • Science stream: a minimum of 60% in the aggregate with 60% in Mathematics and 60% in Science in class X.
    • Commerce stream: a minimum of 45% in the aggregate with 55% in Mathematics
    • Arts stream: a minimum of 45% in the aggregate.
  • Selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in class X, written test and/or interview.
  • To enable students from vernacular mediums also to take admission in the college, the School offers English Proficiency Classes for them after admission.
  • Don Bosco Senior Secondary School is a Minority institution of the Catholic Church. It reserves the right to admit eligible Catholics overlooking certain criteria.

     

Admission Procedure

You can take admission in Don Bosco Senior Secondary Schoo; in two ways: 1) access the Darpan portal of AHSEC which is: https://darpan.ahseconline.in/login and choose ‘DON BOSCO SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL and register with the requisite data or 2) visit the college and the office staff will assist you to register on the Darpan portal of AHSEC.

On your first visit to the college, please provide complete details of the candidate as required for us to assist you to register on Darpan. Give a printout of Darpan details if already applied online. Kindly do not apply here if you are already “accepted” by another institution on Darpan.

A copy of our prospectus is available for a fee of 500/- from the college office. (Electronic transfer details are: DON BOSCO JR. COLLEGE, Ac. No. 19920200000931, Federal Bank, Bongaigaon, IFSC: FDRL0001992).

Submission of application for admission (online through Darpan) must be done immediately after the class X results are declared by SEBA and the Darpan portal is opened by AHSEC. Delayed submissions risk losing the seat. At the time of submission of forms, you will be informed about the availability of seats.

Internet marksheet is sufficient for application. You may submit a copy of the original marksheet and other missing documents at the time of payment of fees after admission.

Once your data has been uploaded on the Darpan portal, either by you or with the help of the office staff, the College will accept candidates with higher percentages on Darpan within a few days, keeping the minority status of the college in mind.

Check your admission status on Darpan daily. Those with lower percentages will be accepted by the college on Darpan only if there are vacancies. Those with lower percentages are advised to apply on Darpan to more than one institution.

Spot admission will be given to those above 70% for Science (with minimum 45 marks for Science theory and Maths theory) above 40% for arts and commerce. This will be on first-come-first-serve basis. Fee concessions are also given to all Catholic students based on attendance and to all other students based on merit (above 75%). See our website/handbook for details.

Kindly note that the subjects chosen can be changed only within the first month of the start of classes. It will be updated after that on Darpan and no changes are further permitted.

Last date for submission of application will be declared by AHSEC and also notified by the college as soon as AHSEC declares the dates. Other boards whose results are declared later, will be admitted as per availability of seats.

Some hostel seats are also available for boys and girls. Contact 9864003612 for Boys’ hostel and 7086592614 for Girls’ Hostel. Take hostel admissions only after confirmation of college seats. Hostel admission forms will be available from the respective hostels.
